IH Seville and Cádiz – CLIC
Learn Spanish against the privileged and stunning backdrop of Seville, home to the third-largest cathedral in the world and some of Spain’s oldest traditions, or walk to the beach after class in famously laid-back Cádiz.
IH Seville is located right in the city centre, near traditional cafés, grand old churches and town houses, bustling shops and authentic tapas bars. Seville is a city of 700,000 inhabitants and it is a feast for the senses, with orange blossoms blooming in spring, chestnuts roasting in winter and incense invariably wafting out of some church or other.
Home to the world’s biggest football team as well as its most unique architecture and a famously-unfinished basilica, Barcelona hardly needs any introduction. It is located at a crossroads in Europe, at the centre of a proud Catalan culture but also a gateway to Spain, France and the entire Mediterranean. IH Barcelona is in a beautiful building, right in the city centre near Plaça Catalunya.
The Spanish department at IH Barcelona places a strong emphasis on communication and its teachers have written best-selling Spanish textbooks. Group courses are for 20 hours a week and can be combined with group conversation classes or with individual tuition. You can also take only private classes, or an Executive super-intensive course to take advantage of your stay. Courses for the over 50s with special cultural activities are available, and teenagers aged 13-17 have a special course in the summer in Tarragona, near the Port Aventura theme park. IH Barcelona is a DELE centre and offers preparation courses for the exam. The Business Spanish exam of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce can also be taken by students who complete the 60-hour Business Spanish course. Part-time group courses for expats or intensive courses for students seeking work in Spain, customised group options for groups travelling together and internships combined with courses are also available. Combined courses include Spanish with Spanish culture, Spanish with artistic workshops and Spanish with soccer coaching. The Spanish teacher training department, founded in 1986, offers three programmes as well as customised packages. Accommodation is in host families, shared or private apartments, student residences or hotels and hostels.
In the middle of Spain’s eastern coast, Valencia is a vibrant and stylish city with strong architectural features and a health-conscious population.
IH Valencia is located in two state-of-the-art buildings in the city centre and boasts a modern approach to teaching using communicative techniques. Its Spanish department, called Españolé, incorporates this ethos and strives to get its students speaking Spanish from the first day. General Spanish courses are for 20 or 25 hours a week in groups or alternatively 25 or 30 hours a week with a mix of group and one-to-one classes. DELE and Business Spanish courses are taught and the school is a DELE exam centre. Spanish can also be taken with sailing or football classes. Groups of schoolchildren, families and teenagers are catered to with custom programmes. Completing the school’s wide range of course options, combination programmes with either internships, aupairing (age 18-27 only) and volunteering are available. All courses take place in the morning or evening. A full social programme is provided by the school.
