Xi'an lies about 1200 kilometres south of Beijing in the province Shaanxi. With a population of eight million people, Xi'an is today considered as a very big city, even by the Chinese standards! With its historical buildings, the narrow alleys and the city-wall from the 14th Century (which is the most completely preserved in China) it still appears like a small characteristic town.
Where we are…
Our partner school is located in the heart of Xi'an City, near the old town, south-east of the old wall. The office is located in a modern two storey building and provides a friendly atmosphere for learning tangerine: 16 classrooms, a library, a computer room with Internet access, a student room.
This small school also hosts Chinese students attending English, German, Spanish and French courses in the evenings and at weekends. This is a great opportunity to make friends with the locals who will make you discover their beautiful city and with which you can apply your language skills.
This is a one-to-one tuition course, in which you will improve your language abilities in all their aspects.
This course is designed for students that have particular language needs.
Our accommodation is carefully selected and visited regularly throughout the year by our accommodation department.
You can choose from one of the following possibilities:
Homestays are carefully selected and offer students the opportunity to learn more about the local culture in a comfortable setting, while studying Chinese Mandarin in Xi'an. These homes are often between 5 - 15 minutes away from the school by public transport. Families usually offer affordable meal plans that allow you to discover and taste the local cuisine.
It is possible to live in a rented apartment during your study in Xi'an, but this tends to be more expensive. International House provides some assistance with apartment rentals or you can rent an apartment on your own.
International House provides some assistance with hotel or hostel reservations or you can reserve a room on your own.
Using language in a sporting or social context is a very good way to develop skills that you have acquired in class during your Mandarin lessons. Our school offers students the opportunity to participate in activities and outings, some free or at a reduced price, both during the week and at weekends. From the vestiges of the prestigious Tang capital to the effervescence of the ultramodern Xi’an…you will have numerous lovely moment to remember!
