Learn English and experience Irish culture

The course is flexible and allows students to customise their course based on their needs, budget and interests. Our aim is to give students a language-learning experience that will leave them feeling empowered and ensure a long-lasting interest in both language and culture. IH Galway also prides itself on providing students with a family atmosphere, so our staff and teachers are always on hand to listen to any doubts or worries students may have.

Project-based learning and unforgettable cultural activities

In addition to traditional lessons involving the development of grammar, vocabulary, speaking, reading and listening, students will also take part in project work which offers them the chance to practise their English in a practical and engaging manner. Projects often include topics involving Irish sport, music and culture, but have also dealt with themes such as environmental awareness, advertising, filmmaking, social media and creative writing. The themes of these topics can also be tailored to students’ interests. Lessons and project work will take place in the morning and are 15 hours per week. At the end of the course, students will be given a record of all their work and progress, which they can then add to their CVs!

Have fun!

Afternoons are dedicated to social activities which will allow students to explore Galway in all its glory! Each activity will be monitored by either a group leader or member of staff to ensure that students are safe and don’t get lost. Social activities in the past have included trips to the cinema, the beach and the fabulous Merlin castle. Galway is also home to a number of arts and cultural festivals which means there’s always something to do!

Explore the Wild Atlantic Way

Once the weekend arrives, students should be prepared for an exciting excursion to one of Ireland’s beautiful sights! Galway is the perfect location for visits to the stunning Cliffs of Moher, Connemara and the Aran Islands. We can also organise trips to Leisureland (the local waterpark), the Killary Adventure Company and more. Students can also choose their own excursions from a list of options. These trips are a great part of the course as they give students a well-deserved break after their hard work during the week, but also allow them to engage with the English language in a new and interactive way.

Safe and comfortable accommodation provided

Our accommodation options for students include local hostels, hotels and B&Bs. IH Galway also has our own residential accommodation which allows students to stay in a shared house or apartment. No matter your preference, our administration staff will be available to help students secure a place to stay before they arrive and to help with any problems students may have during their stay.
